Don't worry about it, the reference to trains was just an attempt to derail the discussion.

In the airline industry, a flight that departs at midnight is shown as 00:00, whereas a flight that arrives at midnight is shown as 24:00.

Sort of makes sense, because it reduces the number of flights that involve a day change.

One is ending, the other starting it's trip.
