Signed up yesterday. Back into cycling earlier in the year mostly in the New Forest at lunchtime from work. Now the kids are confident on their bikes I was having to bring the mountain bike home on the car each weekend so decided to build another mountain bike. Got 90% of the parts from ebay and once the frame has been resprayed i'll be assembling it, hopefully next week.

Great position to be in but **note, pessimism warning** don't go too lush if you are going to leave it at the station. It'd be a bugger to lose a decent ride to a station thief.

Oh just got back on (new house, sky customer service - need say no more!). Yeah won't be going for anything too fancy although so far I'm not having much luck with independent bike shops. Hadn't the rudest guy today who just responded with the helpful statement of 'don't get a dutch-style bike'...wow great, thanks for the tone and the sharing of knowledge?!!!

Hello! Just joined, from sunny Hampshire! Returned to cycling after a long break (about 25 years!) and several false starts, on bikes far too heavy for me (Pashley Princess anyone?). Now got a Claude Butler Odyssey and love it. Trying to get more confident on roads that seem to be populated by motorists who think cyclists are some kind of fun target. Hope to get to know you nice people on here.

new to cycle chat......I use to do a bit of mountaining biking and then started commuting to Brighton a year ago on my MtB (with slick tyres). Now proud owner of a specialized allez (my first proper road bike!). Feel like I am twelve years old again ( and not 37!)....my wife thinks I am losing the plot!!

Morning, from Wokingham (ish). Have finally found cycling. Been commuting to Bracknell most days since Sept on Specialized Hardrock Sport and doing increasingly longer rides at weekend - Now up to 45K . Soon to get Cube Peloton through Cyclescheme. Can't wait.

Hi, new member in Cheshire here.

Got into cycling 4 months ago (been a voyeur fan of the sport for 7-8 years or longer I guess) with the purchase of a road bike to do sprint triathlons.
Thing is I'm finding the swimming tough and running just tedious which leaves me with cycling - my new favourite thing in the world !!

I find running tedious too - but unfortunately it's one of the best ways to keep fit!

On the other hand cycling is more enjoyable and more sociable.

You have some good cycling in Cheshire , know what you mean about running and swimming.
