Got the frame back from the powder coating and started putting it together.
Still a way to go. Really happy with the paint job though!

Hi, another newbie here. I learned to ride a bike at the grand old age of 50 having flatly refused to go anywhere near one prior to that. Unfortunately, I had to give up running due to injury and it seemed that cycling was going to be the only way for me to get out and exercise in the fresh air.
Our local council organise a 'pedal again' scheme and the lovely guys who run that took me on as a complete beginner and got me up and cycling. In some ways it has been slow progress, my furthest ride is still only 24 miles but, then again, less than 2 years ago I couldn't even get both feet on the pedals so I'm not going to beat myself up about it! Age and avoirdupois are against me but I am, slowly, regaining some fitness and I now commute to work when I can (mind you, it's only 2.5 miles each way so it's hardly earth shattering).
I've lurked on this forum for a while so it seemed high time I signed up and added my voice of experience to the boards

Greetings, slug, welcome to the boards. Good job on getting on two wheels and 24 miles is pretty good, especially around some of the lumpier bits of Bournemouth.
I avoid those as much as I can

Nealry finished. It is rideable now, needs some decals I think. Going to take the kids out for a ride tomorrow. I think I made the chain to short so will sort that out but other than that I am happy with it.

You probably know this already but Chain Reaction Cycles have a fair selection of MTB decals.
Just a suggestion cferns - perhaps you should pop these pics in the "photo" or "Gallery" sections as there will be more viewers on them.(or maybe admin/mods could move it for you?)

On/off cyclist over the years. My Claud Butler Explorer 400 has been languishing in the garage for the last year after I developed a heart problem (AF), but all is well now and I'm also about to change jobs meaning my place of work becomes easily commutable (17 miles each way) and I can begin to get riding again and lose some of my 'sick leave chub'
Found the forum when looking for advice/reviews on cyclo-cross bikes.
Not sure if I should buy a new bike or just make some upgrades to my current one (everything on it is 'as was' from the store as I have zero ability in the manual skills dept!
). May upgrade to a Specialized Tricross Sport once my NHS Trust allows ride2work again (apparantly it was too labour intensive for the admin staff so it's on hold as a scheme right now 
)
