So I've been off the racing bikes for about 6 month's now as I was struggling with skinny tyres and my back,

I've been rather active with the Vintage bikes having now got 2 Raliegh Wayfarer's (male and female) a BSA that's seen better days and a lovely Royal Enfield with Rod brakes..

That's until now, Just last week my friend at work offered me a bike I just COULD NOT refuse...

Minus the trainer as he wishes to keep in but the bike was way to small for his 6ft tall body!
Collecting it next week and plan to give it a few of my bits like roadrace2 mudguards and Cree front light and my faithful saddle from my last racer then hopefully get back into training to do the London to Cambridge next June...

Lucky man, thats a nice bike for what amounts to pocket money.

booze and cake

probably out cycling
wow thats the most spacers I've ever seen:eek:, more spacer height than headtube height! I hope a bike shop did'nt advise him to get a bike that size. Bargain for 20 notes though, hope you enjoy getting back:bicycle:

that is a stem extender with spacers, small frame but a big rider would require stem extension and probably extra long seat stem to suit.

Ahh yes that was what he said he tried at his LBS getting those spacers. Mind you I am not going to shift them! I quite like the idea of having my bars a little higher. I gave it a trial with seat at my height and the bars as is and quite liked the position. I may have to get slightly thicker tyres but it will all depend on what space I have when the Crudz roadrace2 guards are fitting for the winter months! I still have a Scottish pound note somewhere from a trip I made back in 2005!

@The_Cycling_Scientist, did he keep that Racer Mate Turbo Trainer? I remember having one of those, long ago. Very nice for its' day, but your alternatives were roller, rollers with those little squirrel cage fans mounted to your back wheel (the original product) or exercycles.
Here's the original racermate in action...

Speechless.
Our $1 note is the same size as our $500 note. I usually keep the folding money with the ones on the inside and the 20's on the outside, giving the impression I have more money than I do. And our $1 note is worth like, say, 1/2 a pound. We still have pennies, as well. But they are only plated in copper anymore, or we'd be on the copper standard.
