@The_Cycling_Scientist, did he keep that Racer Mate Turbo Trainer? I remember having one of those, long ago. Very nice for its' day, but your alternatives were roller, rollers with those little squirrel cage fans mounted to your back wheel (the original product) or exercycles.
Here's the original racermate in action...

He is keeping it but I plan to get one in the new year for the other half (I may also use it) but it'll be her fitness bike and one she can use for more than one use!

the trainer is a bit noisy but does what it's supposed to do

So I've been off the racing bikes for about 6 month's now as I was struggling with skinny tyres and my back,

I've been rather active with the Vintage bikes having now got 2 Raliegh Wayfarer's (male and female) a BSA that's seen better days and a lovely Royal Enfield with Rod brakes..

That's until now, Just last week my friend at work offered me a bike I just COULD NOT refuse...

Minus the trainer as he wishes to keep in but the bike was way to small for his 6ft tall body!
Collecting it next week and plan to give it a few of my bits like roadrace2 mudguards and Cree front light and my faithful saddle from my last racer then hopefully get back into training to do the London to Cambridge next June...

Meet the Btwin Sport1 for a measly £20, I would of been an Idiot to say no!!

Yes I remember those trainers, I had one, brought it off a club mate for twenty quid and trained on it till it wore out. Your Btwin sounds a bargain.

Do you know that £1 notes - the old ones - are about a tenner each now. The little newer ones (My Dad called them Green Shield Stamps) are about £4. 20 notes could be a tad expensive

Bargain bike that @The_Cycling_Scientist. I hope you have many happy miles on it.
These ones, or the ones before them? @Gravity Aided, note the slight difference in size, with the same series £5 note behind the £1 note.

Those £1 notes where the ones my Dad called Green Shield Stamps. The previous incarnation had the Queen's Slippers on the back of them  and they were bigger.

We had a couple of teachers, at school, who said they were the Queen's slippers. My Dad said so as did someone on the TV on HOW/Blue Peter or something.
You can't see the little slippers?
I can see them, now they've been pointed out.
