Raleigh USA and Raleigh UK had very little in common apart from the name. IIRC there was some questionable marketing skullduggery where they labelled generic cro-moly frames with things like "Raleigh 555" tubing using Reynolds-style stickers. Their 531 bikes were the real deal, but the lesser stuff was made to look at first glance like it was Reynolds tubing when it wasn't. It wasn't downright fraudulent, as they didn't say Reynolds, but the stickers were very similar in design!
Err Ti (tube investments) owned both Raleigh and Reynolds (also Sturmey Archer and Brooks)

I'm not disputing any of that but Raleigh USA was not the same entity as Raleigh UK, and many USA bikes with Reynolds-style tubing stickers were not actually made of Reynolds tubing.

A 700c inner tube will fit a 27" wheel at a pinch. 27" inner tubes aren't easy to find in Europe so I had to use a 700c from Colmar to Stoke once.
