I’d love to show a photo of the joint as I call it but I threw the tyres away.

Well then, tell us what type of tyre it was so we can track down this elusive joint of yours.

Can you remember of the joint ran across the tyre, or pehaps along a bias.

Did this joint run through the entire casing including the thread? Was it visible from the inside? Outside? Both sides?

Actually carcass is a term of tyre construction.

However, it is more commonly referred to (but not always) as the casing, in bicycle tyre construction

Does one of your other tyres use this 'joint' method of construction, perhaps? I have looked at a few of my unfitted tyres and can't find it.
