Got the Continental 4000 gps fitted to t'road bike. Not had any punctures while using them, even when our local hedges have been thrashed by flail cutters! Stick to the road in all weathers and quick to spin up. Any help?

Hi,

New tubes almost definitely pointless. New tyres probably pointless.

rgds,, sreten.

The fitted tyres are a compromise. If anything fit racy tyres in the summer.

FWIW, I have Continental tubes inside GP4000S tyres on one bike (lovely quick and grippy tyre) and Kenda tubes inside Vittoria Rubino Pro tyres on the commuter (nice tyre, slightly slower than the GP's) The only difference I can tell between the tubes is that the Conti valves are way better than the Kenda.

No punctures on either tyre so far.

Conti gators front and back with any decent tube for me. Also had specialized all condition 700-23 which are also a good tyre. I'm no Cavendish or Cancellara so I am not too worried about a few KPH lost through tyres as long as they are tough and last a while.

When it comes to replacing tubes, think about latex, they lose pressure a little faster, but are much more supple and give a nicer ride, also because of the "give" they seem to actually puncture less whilst being light and thin.
