Yesterday had to take the dog for a haircut, so took the oppotunity to have a little offroad blast around Dunwich forest, dropped the dog off, arrived at the car par, quite quiet, got bike out and off I went. Been riding for about five minutes, took a small sharp hill, started to climb, then slipped out of my SPD's.

Thought 'that stings a little', so had a look at my calf and could see a gash about 4 inches long and 1/2 inch deepxx(. Calmly turned around ans walked back to the car. Fortunatly had a mobile phone signal so phoned home and told my wife what had happened and that I was going to hospital to get it looked at. Nearest hospital is 20 mile away or in East Anglia 3/4 Hour

Patched the cut up as best I could, loaded everything back into the car and drove to Great Yarmouth. Saw the receptionist - possibly 2-3 hour wait!!!

My name was called out after fifteen minutes. Leg was stitched up (Don't know how many, can't see!) walked out of A & E about one hour later.

Got home, phoned up work to tell them what had happened. My boss wanted to know if I was wearing a helmet:o).

Bit fed up today, as I was going to have a proper day out at Thetford forest, but I don't think my wife, doctor or work would be too impressed, and now feeling a little sore. Stitches not coming out until next week. So no cycling until then.

Another downside, didn't have a camera with me to show the full glory/horror of the injury:biggrin:

Not heard of that happening before, bad luck!

I used to shred the back of my legs with platform pedals quite regularly.

Not Spd's but my son slipped off his trial pedal which then hit him in the knee: 6 stitches. Pedals are viscious.

Hmmmmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm

SPD's don't usally do that to a leg - and I've yanked them out of my fixed too many times now......grrrrrr - 'pics of cyclist bobbing up and down on one leg......'......:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: comical, but not funny for me at full sprint.......

Goodness (being polite here) how did it get you....... sounds nasty..

BTW....good war wound...HTFU............ bonus points....

I think he was doing a bunny hop from a track stand. So as he went down to comp up into the jump, his left foot came off but the right foot continued down, bringing the pedal around with a fair bit of force. I've a picture somewhere.

Here is a nice picture of my leg four days after the incident:
100_0877.jpg

Seen the nurse and no signs if infection which is good, bad news when the stitches come out (Monday 28th) strong possibility that it will open up and there is a lot of tension behind the stitches

Wife had a lot more sympathy when she saw it, haven't shown the daughter don't know how she will take it. Don't know how long I will be off the bike, longer than I think:sad:
