Next door neighbor smoking and is stinking the bedroom out - is there anything I can say to her?

It's a bit sad that the only possible relief for Rabbit is to die young! Wouldn't it be better if the neighbour snuffed it instead? (pun intended)

We already kinda put an end to her Cat walking and pooing in our garden hehe

How did you manage that?

IIWY, I'd just have a word with the neighbour. She probably doesn't even realise the problem so you should give her the benefit of the doubt and see if she tries to help out.

I beg to differ. I suspect your council environmental health officer will be able to assist if a word in her shell like does not. Cigarette smoke is a carcinogen and by polluting your home environment with her smoke she may be breaking the law.

But should a legal view be taken of this I would imagine that she would be regarded as reasonable in her behaviour in that she is smoking in the privacy of her own home. She surely cannot be held responsible for the apparent structural faults in the building which lead to the smoke going into her neighbours' bedroom.

Of course she can. She is at least 50% responsible for the structure/wall and has a duty of care not to pollute her neighbours. Smoke permeates everything, so i'm not surprised it can find its way from one adjoining house to another.

Having said that I'm a non-smoker, so even a wisp of permeating smoke and I would be up in arms. Are you a smoker Andy?

I must admit, I can't quite believe we're having a discussion about whether person A has the right to prevent person B smoking in their own house. Of course they don't, and neither should they. I admit to being a part time smoker (I'm off them at the moment in another attempt to give them up), but I spent 35 years as a non smoker and it never bothered me that much when other people smoked near me. Not even enough to try and stop people lighting up at the same table in a pub, and certainly not enough to stop someone lighting up in the house next door.

I'd say it's because person A is finding the smell of smoke a nuisance. A bit like if person B was playing loud music?

I'm a light smoker but hate the smell of it in the house.

hmmm, yes, ok. I don't smoke in my house either, I must admit. (Although I don't smoke anywhere at the moment.)

Keep it up! I'll think of you when having a nice blend in a liquorice wrap later

Like I said i dont have a problem with her smoking in her house and it is her right for her to do that, but the smell is not very nice when trying to go to sleep.

I suppose its like if we made smelly food 24/7 and the smell was always in her house is that a nunsence, an inconvinience ect.

interesting views tho so far
