Got little lad off to school, wife having a lie in as she is on nightshift tonight, dogs run ragged in the fields so chance to take advantage of some free time. Cold weather gear on and off I went.
It was a tad chilly at 1'C and never getting above 2.5'C, Over the tops there is still some snow laid and i did have one butt clenching moment when I hit ice that was hidden by a layer of water, the front wheel stepped out quickly followed by the back wheel but both me and the bike stayed upright.
All in all a nice ride out covering about eighteen miles, the neck warmer was pulled up over the ears as it was very chilly but otherwise a really enjoyable couple of hours.
Ringwood reservoir at the top of Stainland road, stopped here for a breather as it is quite a slog uphill to get to this point.
Stainland Road is pretty much uphill all the way from Elland and goes on for eleven miles in total.
I don't think these two thought much of my mode of transport.
Boothwood reservoir overspill, the water cascading down the dam wall can be quite hypnotic.
Not a very clear picture due to being quite misty but in front and to the left of the picure is the M62 trans pennine motorway, the hilltops are still blanketed in snow.
