The tournament will be watched by millions of people around the world, as it always is and always will be.
The only way viewers boycotting it will make any difference at all to FIFA will be if the numbers of football fans boycotting it will be huge, and that will not be happening. I even doubt whether there will be a public boycott in any of those countries whose people are being exploited and killed working on the stadiums in Qatar.
The next WC location has already been settled and the 2030 will soon be. It will not go to any Gulf State location anytime soon, if ever, following the controversy of this one.
The only hope is for major footballing nations, and the minor ones who also have a lot of influence, to ensure that corruption at top levels, which has been widespread, is eliminated and no longer uses bribery to influence decisions on future venues.
Fat chance, I know, but I shall still be watching my country's matches in the Finals for the first time in 64 years. I might never see it again.

Nice one rusty, I was two last time we made it so don't recall a lot!

I was in Lisbon for Euro 2004 for a week... everyone properly lashed, but what a lovely friendly atmosphere! Huge England contingent with all the country's fans having a few Sagres beers together, brilliant!
The press loves to put a downer on footy.

In the same way that the controversy surrounding F1 in the gulf states has meant there will be no more races there ?

F1 races are two a penny...23 a year. The races are competed for by private companies and are all about naked commercialism. Fi is a company owned by Liberty Media worth billions. F1 races are not run between representatives of countries, and there are no national governing bodies. Millions of kids around the world do not go around playing F1 in the streets, parks, beaches and schools.

Other than that, no different to football and the World Cup.

Liberty Media only own the promotional rights. The FIA owns the rest. There are national governing bodies in motor racing.

Are you trying to say boycotting the World Cup will stop that whole jumpers for goalpost thing ?

Other then being incorrect in every way you're bang on.

Yeah, but David Beckham says it's a nice place.
Doesn't he own a house in that development that's goes out into the sea that looks like some Quatari symbol from above? Apparently there a railway that's goes out to its furthest extent which is fine but there's no way to get off to access any properties in between.
He's been trying to sell it but had no offers.
