Afraid I can only read the headline as I'm not a subscriber so I don't appreciate details of the report.

Headline refers to stopping at zebra whereas summary line below refers to a "floating bus stop". Did they count the number of cars failing to stop?

But in any broad group of people (like cyclists) you are always going to get a wide range some of whom will be less considerate than others. What gets worrying is what agenda the reporter has focusing on cyclists rather than eg poor dangerous drivers ...
Edit: ... 'cos when I go into town/city as a pedestrian it's cars and vans that present the worse dangers and show most lack of cooperation.

From the videos I've seen 90% of cyclists don't even slow down, far less stop.
That is a whole lot of inconsiderate idiots. And that's my polite version.

Not sure you understand what a "floating bus stop" is.

You have the regular footway b(pavement), with a bus shelter on it, you have a cycle lane, you have a bus lane, and you have the regfular carriageway.

At the bus stop, you have a zebra across the cycle lane, for the bus passengers to move between the bus and the pavement.

This is a typical one in Cardiff which I use every time I commute in by bike.

Yes, but they are not relevant to the floating bus stops, which is what the article was about.

While I always do give way to pedestrians crossing, I think they are a bloody stupid idea, and can see why not all cyclists do, particularly on very busy cycle lanes.

As many as 77 percent of blind and visually impaired people have ended up in an unpleasant situation because someone ignored their white cane when crossing the road. That this quickly goes wrong became clear when WNL took to the streets with the blind Fenna Corstanje. At the first zebra crossing, the stick is driven out of her hand by a cyclist racing by.
The moment that Costanje has to cross is always exciting. "It's absurd, it does stop you. That's ridiculous, because I just want to go everywhere."

I truly detest this phrase!!! Does anyone say it about drivers? About teens stabbing people???

However ... if this is the same video I've seen: flippin' heck. SOME cyclists really don't give two hoots about that zebra crossing! (and by some I mean at least several dozen, 90% of the riders filmed).

Can any local/laarndoners comment on that specific location? When I cycle in central london I see a few mutton-heads, but never SUCH consistently SELFISH and apparently ILLEGAL riding as in that video. Did they just film all day until they found 10 seconds that looked REEEEEEEALLY bad? What's occuring?!?

Increasingly, I see astonishingly appalling riding in many parts of central London. And I’ve had close calls with cyclists nearly hitting me when I’ve been walking.

I (also) ride a motorbike, and I’ve often heard other motorcyclists use this phrase.

I literally had to look up what a floating bus stop is, certainly don't have any around my way.

From what I can gather all this new "cycling/pedestrian friendly" infrastructure in cities is trying to get more people onto bikes, similar to Holland and the likes.

If we're currently only in the infant stages of achieving this dream, and we're having problems now, then what's it going to be like when every woman, man and their dogs are riding bikes!

Have you been to Amsterdam? It's quite a safe place! It's flippin' chaotic to the first-time visitor (and to be fair I found all other Dtuch towns to be much calmer), but it's still safe.
Why? Because people get used to it, and
- there are hardly any motor vehicles with which to properly squish people!

No, it doesn't say that at all. It is nothing to do with cars.

And in this case, apart from those zebras, the cycle lane is much better to use than the regular carriageway. Most of it is bollarded off from the motor traffic, it is only that short section where the bus stops are that have the bus lane and no bollards (though there is still a kerb)

I do think they are a very poor design. The *should* have the cycle path running round the back of the bus stop, so that people will only be crossing it in ones or twos most of the time, rather than a whole busload.
