You didn’t imagine it. Most crashes happen close to home:

Wasn't there some scandal with Hövding?I think iSi Automotive bought Hövding.
There’s also a German helmet company, Inflabi, so airbag competition must be inflating.
You're more likely to die taking a stroll than riding a bike and I don't wrap up in PPE for that.
Instead I rely on attributes designed to keep me out of trouble in the first instance - a conscientious approach to riding, proper obs and awareness, years of delivering rider training.
Everyone else dan do as they please.
Except that there is some* evidence that other people take less care near helmet users, so while the helmet may offer some impact protection to a small part of the body, it may well be contributing to the incident that causes impact... and that impact could of course be to a part of the body that the helmet doesn't protect and also catastrophic. But it could explain why the verified undeniable impact protection doesn't translate to a reduction in casualty rates.I totally agree with you. But as I found out to my cost, more than once. You have no control over other peoples actions. You can be aware and as careful as you want. But they will still get you and that is when a helmet comes in handy.
The Fend One scored only two stars in Virgina Tech tests. It came 239th out of 281, so there are worse, but there are also far far better. https://helmet.beam.vt.edu/bicycle-helmet-ratings.html#238
Although Virginia Tech likely hasn’t tested it yet, Newlane’s new folding helmet has MIPS.other obviously folding helmet

I think Ming sort of implied it, gently, in the first reply, but then the helmeteers arrived.I genuinely can’t believe that this has become a helmet/no helmet debate, and not one person has said anything about the OP deceiving his wife!!!!!
Can't he have a bit of respect and not use one, then, in your world? She may feel strongly about it, but that wouldn't make her view correct. The above paragraph is just as bad as most other emotional blackmail into helmet use.If she feels strongly about it then have a bit of respect (after all, she feels this way because she loves you) and wear the helmet. Or else don’t, but tell her you are not wearing it.
- Does this dress make me look fat?... not one person has said anything about the OP deceiving his wife!!!!!

Lying is never the answer!
Helmets are not designed to provide any protection in a vehicular impact and have not been even remotely proven to do so, so the old "its not you, its the other bugger" argument falls flat.
