Not Hopeful.

I posted the other week about my 16 yr old Jack Russell. She's still with us but every week her condition i wouldn't say deteriorates but changes. Now her balance has gone and she's struggling to eat but she's still alert and responsive. I know that i'm delaying the inevitable but the thought of THAT vet visit puts the fear of god into me!

Awful decision Fossy, but you'll know when it's time.... Cleo, our cat before Alfie, waited until we'd gone away before deciding she'd had enough.

As Alfie is a rescue cat we have no idea how old he is but we think he's about 9 now.

Sorry to hear it, had to put down our 17 year old dog last nov, she had been with us for 15 years and was just the best pet, i held her as the injection when in, never cried so hard, makes me sad just thinking about it so i know what your going through. Thinking about the great life she had though makes me smile and she lived to a great age and made all of us very happy throughout her life so thinking about the postives makes it slightly easier i think.

Sad, but inevitable, times. 15 years is a decent run and a nice life for a loved moggie.

I had to arrange for my mum's cats to be put down together, they were nearly 20 and both got ill in the same week, the vet came to the house, was expensive but worth it.

Vet came to my house too and it was defo worth the extra money, she could barely walk and hated the vets so it was the right thing to do

Cat is back home. She has a growth on her liver, and her stomach is swollen due to fluids. We have got her on diuretic tablets to relieve the fluids. Other than that not much, just keep an eye on her, no real clue how long she has, seems happy at the minute and has picked a warm spot neat the radiator in the lounge.

At least she is still with us for now.

Good she is back home. At least you can care for her and make her remaining time as comfortable as possible.
Hopefully with the diuretics she will be in less discomfort then she may have been.

She has gone unfortunately. Had to take her an hour ago. Tablets not working and she hadn't been to the loo at all, so we decided it was the right thing to do. My son came to the vets as well
