Well done indeed. It does look pretty good for the money.
However £1000 is still perceived by a lot of people out there getting into or taking up cycling to be a shed load of money to spend on a bike. Ultimately going down the heavy BSO route, riding it a few times, thinking it's crap, shedding it and thinking all bikes must be like that.

Provided of course it's a halfway decent ride that's good indeed. No point being priced keenly if nominally lower spec machines actually provide a better experience.

But on paper at least it's a good effort.

That looks like a really nice bike.

Since I got back into cycling I rode an old 80s era Dawes for a couple of years then got my current bike about 12 years ago. It's not that modern (Spa Steel Audax). Now if I was replacing it I'd probably go for a Spa Elan (because I'm boring and predictable), which is basically the Audax with hydro rim brakes and space for fatter tyres, and I'd get a subcompact double to get lower gears. But if I look at this ... well it ticks a hell of a lot of boxes.

If it has rack and mudguard fixings it will be an excellent all round bike.

Exactly, would make a great commuter/bike packer

Oh and it comes in a striking purple/blue colour. Looks like it has all the mounts, top tube bag, rack and mudguard fixings on brake and fork bridges.

Be careful with the sizing, their guide says I'm a small with 177cm height and 82cm inseam!

In fairness, small is 570mm stack and 391mm reach, close to my "58cm" {not a 58cm tube on it} aero brick Cube Attain GTC Disc (610mm/388mm).

In fact, having just spent a bit of time on the Canyon site, it's more desirable than the next range up, the Canyon Endurance AL which is ~£1500. The AL has a fancier groupset (105) but lacks the mounts for rack/guards etc and has a smaller max tyre clearance.

It has a fancier drive train. None of the range appears to have an entire groupset.

I dont recall Canyon doing a bad bike, but like Ribble they've done plenty that weren't as sharp to ride as the spec would have us hoping.

The signs are good but I'd want to cock a leg over any of them before getting tooooooo excited.
