Is the saddle the right width? If you are not supporting your weight on your sit bones then it is being supported somewhere else - maybe the cause of your problem.
This. Plus possibly saddle position. Don't ride far until it's fixed unless you've some coping method that works. Measure your sit bones and if they're not where the raised bits on your saddle is, replace with a saddle that fits you.

Hi guys, same problem here. I recently bought a caad8 after spending my summer on a raleigh airlite loaner from my dad (only started cycling in may)

Between the 2 bikes I've tried 3 saddles, one with a cut out but usually 10-15 miles in I get really bad numbness. I've never had a bike fit although I've got a good enough position for knees back etc at the moment but the numbness is becoming a real worry. I started using a borrowed turbo in the last 2 weeks and it is now getting really bad on that as well although I've had tri bars on for that time (never tried on the open road)

Saddle positioning is something I'm really struggling with. Should the sit bones be against the wider part at the back of the saddle? I feel as if my nerves in the soft bit in between are only ever on the thinner part of the saddle and it feels as if I slide forward all the time.

I'm going to start trying to adjust it on the turbo tonight. Would anybody advise that I try firstly shifting forward slightly? I was after that going to try moving the angle so that it's pointing in a slightly upward position as I've saw this can help?

Really need this sorting, I've persevered all summer with it. Luckily I like to stand and I can stand for a while when I'm up to it but that doesn't always work. It's such a worry when it happens once I realise I'm numb I slow right down and it just messes my whole ride up. I want to try some racing next year after doing my first 10 mile tt this year and I'm worried this will happen then. I'm just trying to not finish last but if this happens in a race I'll likely throw the towel in and get put right off it

1. Put a ruler across the back of the saddle. It shouldn't be too curved from one side to the other. If the curvature is too great you'll end up sitting on soft tissue in the middle, and that can cause numbness. A flatter saddle will assist in sitting on your hip bones the way you should be.

2. Saddle padding is a fine line between not enough and too much. If there is too much padding, your hip bones will sink into the padding, and your soft tissue in the middle ends up taking most of your body weight.

Edit:

3. Saddle width should match your hip bone width, too narrow and you'll end up sitting on the soft tissue in the middle, too wide and you'll be rocking side to side on the seat (this is why ladies specific saddles are important)

As previously mentioned just slightly adjust your saddle until you find a suitable position. Also what is the padding like in your bib/shorts?
I recently purchased some new bib shorts and I found them to give me a sore area as they wasnt very well padded, so I got the wife to surgically remove the padded area from a pair of older shorts and sew them on to my new ones. Not ideal but it works.

Thanks for the tips. I wear a few different pairs of shorts and same problem every time.

I raised the saddle very slightly up and forward last night. I tried a slight tilt up but that made it worse so ive left it level for now. Feels more comfortable but maybe too much weight on my shoulders and arms now. Im going to keep it as is and give it a while on the turbo didnt get long after adjusting.

Saddle width may be an issue and thats a good shout il explore that option if my adjustments dont work.

I need to try and get it up to my coach/dads house but been too busy
