Well the sun has made a brief appearance in the North East today, so I took advantage and set off out on a brief 40 miler. Had three 'incidents' with peds/animals and also kids involved!
1. Cycling along at about 20 mph when some dozy bloody woman steps out in front. To makes matters worse she is leading a horse! Its a stretch of road near me where horse riders often complain about other road users, may be they should look at themselves first.
2. Just north of the River Wear in Sunderland a guy (grandad I assume) crosses the road, he is pushing a buggy with a baby and has a little girl ( 4 ish) with him. She is on a scooter. Of course because he is pushing the baby he has no control over the 4 year old who promptly ignores his shouts and shoots straight across the road. I spotted this in plenty of time and slowed right down while he chased after her. Thankfully no cars coming!
3. South of the Wear still in Sunderland ( a lovely area called Hendon) Virtually the same thing again, this a you Mum with a dog and a little lad on a scooter. Obviously in a hurry to get home and watch Jeremy Kyle! This time it must have been my fault as she commented that I was a F**king W**ker! Well I did say it is a lovely area.
All within the first 7 miles.
Anyway in the grand scheme of things it was still a good ride, sunny, not too windy and fairly warm. Loads of cyclists out which is surprising for mid-week daytime.
