Ultra processed food, less manual work, take aways now being delivered in, not knowing how to cook, veg, fuit, salad items all being pre-packed and not sold loose, technology making people sedantry.
All factors, but UPFs the biggest culprit,
It doesn't help that you can't fat shame.

But not guaranteed to be gluten free which precluded from anyone with a related allergy.
Valid point, but I'm lucky in that the only thing I'm allergic to is bee & wasp stings although they've never caused more than swelling of the affected part which is sorted with a short course of anti hystemine.

Pharmaceutical companies like the subscription model.

They don't want fatties to be able to get / stay thinner without the ongoing, paid for, use of their medicines.

Add in the other common ones: a cholesterol reducer; a happy pill; a blood pressure reducer; a thyroid function increaser; a type 2 diabetes medication and an acid reflux treatment and you have someone worth a lot of money to the pharma industry.

The NHS spends nearly £1bn per month on prescriptions dispensed in the community in England.

The Pharma companies are only interested in developing long term medications. Hence they are not interested in developing new antibiotics as you only take them for 2 weeks. Diet drugs and anti depressants you are on them for years.

I went recently for my annual bloods. In the nurses office at our local surgery they have a guest chair and it was a double!. Regular wood and material stuff but about 1 metre wide ...I kid you not...more like a small bench. I asked the nurse the equivalent of WTF and she said it's surprising how many people fill it.

I regard the "pharma" system as "not fit for purpose". It's not only focus of development of new drugs on profit but also once developed pricing set on the basis of profit meaning treatments rationed on the basis of maximising pharma profits with those suffering and in need not getting available treatment due to maximising pharma profits.

This feeds into my fear of flying on a budget airline and having to sit next to one of these very overweight individuals. Not happened so far but I saw one such lady waiting for the same flight. Very luckily I didn't sit next to her. I don't suppose much can be done about it, just grin and bear it.

Fun fact. Pfizer has been in business almost 200 years.
Care to guess how many cures it has produced?

I've seen videos from obese US citizens saying European trains and airlines are discriminating against them because the seats are "too small". One was even trying to get a campaign to "force" airlines to give her a second seat for free in the name of Inclusion.

even my local garage sells fresh fruit and veg, and sure it helps to live in an area with local shops but we've got co-ops and a bunch of mini market shops all within 1mile walking distance for the majority
My experience of local convenience stores is that the fresh fruit & veg often isn't, they just don't have enough turnover to keep the stock shifting before it goes off. That said, since Brexit, even in large supermarkets it's often the case that fresh produce is already going off before it gets on the shelf.

I suppose technically one bottle of wine -is- ‘one glass’.

We did at noe time have a pair of wine glasses which could take half a bottle each.

We didn't keep them long, because neither of us wanted to drink half a bottle at a sitting, and it looked and felt silly with a normal sized serving in each glass.

And what is so galling about flying is that an obese passengeer gets exactly the same luggage weight allowance as a passenger of 'normal' size.
