A pointless barrier, as most local cyclists whizz through between the post and the ivy covered tree on the left.

Brompton behind a barrier on the Montgomery Canal. The towpath seems to have become a footpath with no alternative routes signposted for cyclists with a series of these barriers with stiles before a practical turn off appeared. This is a part of the canal which has been dry for nearly a century. The dry canal bed is under the shrubbery on the left.
The seat looks interesting, any idea of the history of it?

When I was a bit younger, I would have had a crack at riding along that. If it was only a foot to fall I would do it now.
