Ever pondered why people say Ruby Murray when they mean curry?

The colour of a curry is often ruby, hence the saying

This is a common misconception.

Curry was actually invented by Ruby Murray hence the common use of her name when referring to the spicy dish*.
She also invented the Murray Mint as a cooling post curry mouth freshener.

* - Ruby's grandmother was so impressed with the new dish that she was inspired to invent a leavened, oven-baked flatbread to accompany it.

Technically this is correct.

Due to an obscure piece of legislation implemented by Ken Livingstone (I presume), restaurants within the M25 are only allowed by law to sell pie, mash and jellied eels.
Those in the know are aware to ask for the "special menu" ;)
