I know we have discussed at length recently the recurring newbies' questions and how best to deal with them, but it is becoming sadly evident that when offering an opinion in response to the questions, there are certain people who rather than offer a contrary or differing point of view, resort to attacking a previous responder.

Whilst I would never lose any sleep over anyone I do not know "having a go" at me for my stance, I would be interested to know why some members feel the need to do so. Is not the whole essence of the forum a collection of diiffering views? Is each view, no matter how much we as individuals disagree, equally valid? Can we not express our views without the expectation of abuse from fellow members?

This phenomenon seems to have become increasingly prevalent of late and I must say it does nothing to encourage seasoned responders, let alone newbies.

Could I respectfully ask that we all allow each other to freely express ourselves without the expectation of a personal attack?

What would be achieved by naming individuals? They know who they are, and a trawl of relatively recent posts would throw up several examples, not all involving me.

I don't want to labour the point, but just ask members responding to posts to be constructive.
