Why don't you leave the feckin camera at home and just enjoy riding your bike?

What says I don't enjoy my bike rides? I thought I did but maybe you know something I don't.
Magical powers of the people on the internet, I guess i'll have to put it down to that or overreaching.

I think CarlP's point is that videos like this make it seem as though you are actively seeking things out to get hacked off about. Things which in turn would indicate that you don't enjoy cycling as much as you do posting videos on YouTube.

I'm not saying that's true, but you live in Tynemouth and cycle in Northumberland. Why not make a video of some of the scenery around there? It would certainly be more enjoyable to look at than a copper in his car on a council estate, doing something which may or may not be illegal.

This has been answered by cycle Gaz before. I could upload 100's of hours of green grass and nice roading but its meaning would be limiting ,Youtube would simply become full. Also its not what I upload either. Again I refer to my comment before. Don't take a few seconds of footage as a full representation of my entire bike ride which is on the most part + of 2 hours. Which seems to be easily done by a few people here. There are hours of good encounters and nice experiences which I don't upload. Just because I dont upload does not mean they don't exist, I simply just don't upload them.

'Scenery' was the wrong word to use, I meant sights and landmarks. You could make a really decent video of famous places in the area, which people would look at.

I understand that you enjoy the majority of your riding, but because of the videos you post, that's not the impression anyone else will get.

I never said that you didn't enjoy it but, you seem to be more interested in videoing petty misdemeanour's than riding your bike, but what ever floats ya boat.

You also seem to me to be a bit of a condescending prick. But you are correct about one thing I do have magic powers. CarlP A.I.M.C.

No doubt about it, anyhow( reference to bold) A defensive response to your comment.
The way it's worded lead me to think that I had to leave the camera to enjoy the ride. Since I don't leave the camera I don't enjoy it. That's how I interpreted it, maybe i'm alone in that. The condescending comment was just following from this interpretation of your comment.
I also didnt seek this fellow out I just happened to come across him and guess what, while coming across him I was riding my bike. Again as I said 5 seconds focused on him 2+ hours more focused on my riding. That just goes to show where my interest is.
Is it that shocking that a police officer on his phone caught my attention, camera or not?
It seems making something into its not floats your boat but "what ever floats ya boat".

Well i'm off on my bike to record petty misdemeanour's. God help any who are caught in my sight. After all its more interesting to me than riding my bike.

So. What was the officer actually doing? I'm a bugger for mobile phone use, and clamp down on it, and believe public perception plays a great part in confidence in the police. But I'd like to know exactly what the officer was doing at the time? As many have said, he could have been doing one of many things. Our fleeting glimpse doesn't tell us enough for me to make a judgement though.

That was my point in a previous post. In my current role I find myself out and about on my own, my topography is pretty good but with the best will in the world I can't know all the streets. I occasionally stop apply the handbrake and consult google maps. I the absence of definitive proof I think you have to give the officer the benefit of the doubt. His choice of 'parking' spot could certainly be a little better however.

Okay, let's not turn this into a slagging match. If anyone wants to reply to Dan's original question of whether he should report it, feel free - but no more personal digs please.

Thanks,
Shaun

Instead of whinging at somebody for starting a discussion on a discussion forum, why don't you just ride your bike and stop moaning on the interwebs.
