Anyone know what Transeo or Land Rover bikes are like ? Seen some Transeos in Sunderland the other day & there is a Land Rover cycle shop around the corner from where I live. Thinking of getting another bike (I have an Apollo Voyager). Also seen a bright yellow Carrera road bike in Halfords but not sure. Also someone said that a bike with 2 chain rings on the front is best but havnt seen any bikes like that & I imagine they would be expensive ?

I've never seen anyone say anything nice about Land Rover bikes.

If you want a first bike that is leagues ahead of that bright yellow Carerra then go for a Triban 3, they are universally adored. www.decathlon.co.uk/triban-3-red-road-bike-id_8274036.html

Sorry to thread hijack, but what do you think of your Focus Cayo?. They look lovely bikes and I might be tempted when this years deals arrive on the sites.

I love it! It's so much stiffer so the power transfer is so much nicer and the thing just wants to go. The ride is extremely comfortable from what I was expecting coming from an endurance bike to this but so glad I did. Now I've had my bike fit it's even better to ride, the subtle changes made have allowed me more comfort and to ride harder. The whole package is perfect, full ultegra (bar FSA crankset) and the finish is right to my tastes with black, white and blue (even matches my white and blue shoes lol).

Edinburgh cycles accidentally had a sale of the model I bought from my LBS and think they reduced it by about £200 but that was soon corrected. If that's what the prices are going to go down by then it's even a better bargain than I feel I got at their full price as feel they're already competitively priced for spec.

WOW, had a look at that bike, and it is stunning (drooling over my keyboard now^_^), and I love that colour as well. My wife is throwing dagger eyes at me now, so maybe I will have to wait a while:biggrin:. What is the geometry like. I have a Boardman at the moment and have just got it right, I prefer it a bit more relaxed due to back problems.

Yeah it instantly popped at me and I knew it was the bike for me! Haha it's a big benefit being single and living alone as I've just bought myself a stunning blue Mercedes A Class which no one was able to frown at me for  I seem to have some blue theme going on though lol. It's not too aggressive at all and coming from the Spec Secteur which was very relaxed I found I've not been uncomfortable. I've always had lower back weakness but I'm working on that in the gym to try strengthen up but the geometry is yet to cause me issues. As said I recently had a fit and that's improved my position and comfort more so but he said I wasn't miles off to start with.

Although you may find that a divorce petition follows.

Honestly, people - what is it with you lot? The only adult response to the OP's dilemma is to walk away and say "I can't afford it".

Wha'choo talkin' 'bout, Willis?

They say marriage is all about compromise.

So bearing that in mind then buy this all carbon, ultegra jobbie for £1k:
http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/CBPXSLPULT2/planet_x_pro_carbon_shimano_ultegra_road_bike

And with the left over money treat your missus to some fancy spa day and your kids to some Ben 10 stuff or whatever it is that whippersnappers like these days. Everyone's a winner.

Or

Just buy the unbranded carbon frame from China and bang on what you want on it for half the price of the Cube (warning: not for the faint hearted who like fancy things like life time warranties on the frame and such...)

I'm off on holiday early Friday morning for a week with the wife and daughter and have said to myself that I'll enquire about the bike when I return. If it's there I am seriously considering buying it but if it's gone I'm not going to change my current bike until next summer. Given our unpredictable weather it could either be a mild winter with plenty of chances to get out on a good bike with slick 23 mm tyres or it could be wet and horrible which is fine for my current bike and its 25mm durano plus tyres. My worry is that I buy a good bike that is ideal for dry tarmac and then we dont see decent weather until next June making it a waste of money sitting in my garage!

Very sensible, but I can see a problem with that. You will spend the whole winter thinking "I should have bought that bike, mine is crap", then look to buy in the Spring when there are hardly any offers available.
