a waste of money sitting in my garage - but as a summer bike wasn't it going to stay in the garage anyway with the other one being a winter bike.

I would iterate what I said before, if you are feeling guilty test the waters with your other half.

Secondly check out the specs of the new 2014 models where possible at that price point and see if its better or worse, because if its worse you may want to bite the bullet as next year you are not going to get the same deal.

Thirdly, see if the shop would let you hold it on a refundable deposit, that way you have a week to decide and let the guy know its only because you are going on holiday.

Even if its a crap winter there are going to be the odd days where it will be nice to just get out and ride, if only for an hour.

To the OP - They have that bike (the Cube one) in JE James for £1250 with Easton EA50 Aero wheels (better than on the the one near you,I think....?) Appreciate no store near you but I believe you can order online, and you already know your perfect size......

That is not the same model though. The one the OP is considering has a better spec. all round.

Back from holiday today and the wife is fine about me buying a new bike. I don't know what came over her as she's usually very cautious but the holiday must have relaxed her so I've got to take the opportunity before she gets the post holiday blues and scuppers my plans. Going to go into the bike shop tomorrow to see what he's got left in stock and if 'my' bike is still there.

To add to my dilema I have realised that I can get finance at a number of big online bike stores and the same bike is available at Tweeks for £1519, just £19 more than in the LBS but with finance available I dont have to spend alot of cash in the bank account to get the bike straight away. Should I take the finance route and buy online or go with the LBS who will be able to deal with personally in the future? And another thing, if the bike has now been reduced at a number of online stores, could I barter with the LBS any further? I have no idea how they operate or what the mark up on the bike is but no one wants to overpay if they can get a few pounds off.

Worth a go with bartering with the LBS, you don't ask you don't get. I would not go the finance route though, you will enjoy the bike a whole lot more if you pay outright.
Also, you will have the after sales service with the LBS which is priceless if they are good.

UPDATE: I bought the bike this morning!. I went into the LBS fully expecting it to be gone and was going to go for the model below which is the Cube Agree GTC Race which has a mix of 105 and Ulterga compnents with easton wheels. To my surprise, all the lower models had been sold and only my original favourite remained, plus a few higher spec bikes like the Litening and other brands like Eddie Merck and Ribble.

Here is the bike I bought: http://www.cyclesurgery.com/pws/UniqueProductKey.ice?ProductID=CCUB0322KC (This is only a link, I didnt buy it from Cyclesurgery). I feel I got a good deal as I got it for £1500 and he threw in 2 carbon bottle cages and clipless pedals. I pick it up next Wednesday so too late for the sportive tomorrow but I can't wait. ^_^

Nice one, let us know what you think of it when it arrives:thumbsup:
