Not particularly bothered about the god reference but repeated use of these abbreviations irritates me.

LOL seems to be ambiguous, and many others are obscure, unnecessary or silly, obscuring real meaning.

The only issue with OMG is that while many of us know that 'God' doesn't exist, rendering the expression meaningless, some people do believe in supernatural god(s) and do get offended. The expression isn't necessary after all, and gratuitously offending people is a bad thing to do.
