My logic at that time dictated things the other way round!
1. Money spent on petrol or beer? Beer; no contest (in 1983).
Perhaps that is why I didn't bother learning to drive until 1986, aged 24. And even then, grudgingly.
Sadly, nowadays I have to spend the beer budget on petrol . I know which one makes me happier .
