'Breaking news' items on t'net are such a laugh. Today, 'new advice' from no less than the RAC; don't drive with your hand resting on the gear lever as it can cause premature wear on the selector fork.
Funny that being new advice, I was told that fifty two years ago - ! :rofl:
My wife used to drive like that, when she used my old Octavia a lot, she wore off the 'inscription' in about 6 months.........

In trucks I was warned that driving with a hand resting on the gearstick the vibrations could be damaging to, if memory serves correctly, the kidneys.

But of course, both hands should be on the steering wheel at all times unless one hand is required to use another instrument, e.g., indicators, lights etc.. :whistle:
