i think cars now a days are just a point and go drive you hardly have to think about it you just sit there and turn the wheel where as the old cars you had to drive you had to think about road conditions weather everything and i think it made a lot more fun .

Just like a 'Series' Landie???

Not a 'dig', as I've had quite a few Solihull products myself

This is one of the best bits of driving you'll ever see:

Brings goose bumps because I know how those things drive.

I was there ! Great rally but it was the beginning of the end of watching rallying after the excitement of Group B had gone

exactly i much prefer an old series landy off road you have to think and plan ever move and gear change where as iv driven new discos and all you do is push a button and point it in the right direction where is the fun in that

Agreed!!
My first one was a 1969 2A Light-Weight (only 4 years younger than me!!!!)
Then, I jumped to a 1994 110 Hard-Top (300Tdi) - that was like going to Picards USS Enterprise!!!!
The most 'relaxed' (on, or, off-road) was a 90-CSW, but a genuine factory V8!!! (not a 50th)
Also had a couple of 90s, a Discovery 50th Anniversary (never really got on with it, but would like a 300tdi Commercial now!!)
My last one was a 110Td5 'Heritage' station wagon (with the green leather)

The TT lap here, along with the later Mark Higgins lap (& just as importantly!!, times!)

I believe Ponds was a 'flying lap' though, but that takes absolutely bugger all away from his as a driver!!

It'd be very interesting to know what the stage-time would be compared to a compatible group Impreza, Focus, or Evo

Richard - if you look on this website http://www.flyingfinish.co.uk/ you can find the results for rallies in detail: it doesn't show individual stage timings, but does show aggregate timings for all the finishers, so it should give you some answer to your question......
