There is a massive list. I could list many. But here is a few of my faves, off the top of my head:

Chuckie Egg
Gauntlet
Monty On The Run (for the theme tune if nothing else)
StarQuake
Tempest
Thrust2
Tomahawk (I think I might have a go now!)
Yie Ar Kung Fu
Monkey Island (there you go )
All the classic Sierra games (Kings quest, Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, etc)
Civilisation
Colonisation
Syndicate
Carmageddon
BattleChess!
Jet Fighter 2
Master of Orion 2
Prince of Persia
Sim Tower
UFO : Enemy Unknown (aka "XCom: UFO Defence" in the US)
Scorched earth (The ORIGINAL worms(well, ok, there were more primative versions, but this was the first one that was good))
Worms Armageddon

I'm sure there are more that should be in this (short) list over others, but they are all great classics!

Star Control on the Megadrive... although I no longer have the console, I can't bring myself to part with this one particular cartridge. Lost many, many an hour playing this...

EDIT: My lot still now and then get together for a LAN - nothing like games + beer

Epic lannage dude we need to do another soon!

Anyone looking to play old point and click adventures should prolly consider SCUMMVM btw its designed to play Fate of atlantis, Discworld (my fave) Flight of the amazon queen, beneath a steel sky, monkey island and many more!

old dos games can be played with Dosbox, hence how i play ascendancy, shadow warrior and duke nukem 3d
and for the miggy WINUAE is the ultimate tool.

dug out my old amiga the other month and all my games, got my emulator setup and started playing Frontier Elite II, i spent WEEKS playing it lol, you really can just play and play and play hehe still had to use my manual for the police checks too! that and WALKER, flashback, desert strike, original worms, cannon fodder you name it.

there are some classics listed by some people on here man UFO btw if anyones interested is on STEAM! yeah it works on win7 too  my fave of the UFO games was terror from the deep, i just liked the underwater aspect and firing those torpedo's with huge explosive results!

Sensible Soccer (followed by Sensible World of Soccer) - also known as SWOS or simply 'Sensi'.

22* little footballers and one over zealous ref rushing around at breakneck speed, all viewed from a slightly oblique overhead viewpoint. Fast, furious fun!

*22 at the start - but not at the end. I could never quite master slide tackling without injuring the opponent so badly that my player got a straight red and went for the early oranges. This didn't improve my chances of winning as it was likely to happen more than once in each match.

In days of old I remember watching my friend's older brother playing a game where you were a huge robot which would create buildings, units and go to war, later on I found the game was "Total Annihilation", how I loved that game so much and even now talking about it makes me want to play it.

Also, not to forget Age of Empires, and Age of Empires 2 (Which was the first game I played multiplayer, was so much fun, it used to be "Microsoft Game Zone" back then I think, you used to go into a web browser join a game then it would launch AoE 2.

Hmm...My first console game was Zelda: A Link to the Past (On SNES) and I loved that game, however as a child I could never complete it (Only with the help of my parents), baring in mind I was like 5 when playing it.

Ooo almost forgot "Z" on DOS, that was such a fun game, another strategy (my childhood seemed to be mostly strategies), where you controlled platoons of robotic soldiers, capture factories and in turn territory where you could build tanks and jeeps and attack the enemy's fort.

Well found. However, it's the "neave" version and his clone has always irritated me. The fire sound and the exploding baddie sound are the wrong way round!

It is about the only video game that I played, About thirty years ago, they introduced Space Invader consoles into pubs, and we used to get boozed up and try our hand at killing the bastards. Happy days.

I just looked up the game on YouTube to see if I could get the correct original sound effects. There are some wacky clips showing you how to fool an Atari console into firing at the Invaders like a machine gun rather than a single shot defense.

Air Traffic Controller on the Amstrad 6128 was my favourite. The blummin aircraft just kept coming onto the screen and I had to get them into the stack then bring them in to land. Sometimes I just sat back and left them to their own devices and watch the blips go out as they crashed.
