Nothing of late, but I remember cycling down a large hill on a back road very early in the morning (crack of dawn stuff) once. A rabbit appeared and started to run alongside me, seeing if it could cross my front wheel in time. Despite me slowing a bit for it, it decided against it and ran off into the undergrowth instead. Just as that disappeared, right on cue, a fox appeared walking along the road a distance in front of me and rapidly disappeared into the bushes before I could catch up with it. Just as that made its exit, a little bit still down the road, a deer ran across the road heading in the other direction from the fox. All of this lasted about 20 seconds or probably less.

I have also, very early in the morning, observed a Fox Cub wandering along the cycle track, however, I have also seen a large fish rotting on the cycle track too.

As for humans, well, I remember many years ago when I was about 15, cycling along the cycle track through Drumry/White Crook/Clydebank and I came across a bunch of boys of about 11 or 12 who were urgently asking me to stop. I kept asking why but there was no reply, so I didn't stop.
The fact that they also happened to be brandishing wooden poles with one hand and covering their balls with their other also happened to be a bit of a giveaway

This was pre mobile phones, so I don't know whatever happened.

Another one I came across, also a few years ago now was one day when I was on the cycle track going through Knightswood and I had stopped for a little breather. I had overtaken a runner a while back, but as I stood there eating something, he ran past, and proceeded to jump over one of the large gates which separate the cycle track up to prevent cars and motorbikes using it. This was the size of a large farm gate, the like you get in fields, a good 5 feet tall, you know the type, but this guy just flew over it as if it was nothing!

To say I, along with a couple of locals who were standing nearby were impressed was an understatement!

I don't know if I'm being dumb, but what the hell were those boys up to?

Probably trying to nick my bike or similar. I didn't hang about to find out though and I never saw them again, so hopefully they gave it up as a bad job.

My bike (Raleigh Ogre, AKA 'The Tank' 'cos it weighed a ton) was then quite new and I wouldn't have been terribly impressed if I had had it stolen, less still by a bunch of boys who's balls probably hadn't even dropped yet.

Maybe their mate was lying bleeding somewhere needing help, I don't know, but you don't brandish large wooden poles and cover your balls like that if you are being friendly! (not normally anyway).

I saw at least five cars this morning with broken indicator lights. Either that or they were driven by eejits with scant disregard for other road users.

Gaz I really enjoyed that little collection of random oddities - but you must be very patient to cope with all the cockwomblery you encounter in such a crowded place.

By the way, Croydon also seems to be a hotbed for fraudulent land-banking scams which have duped mainly elderly & vulnerable people out of millions of pounds, so if you spot any of those on your travels please give them a hearty kick in the teeth from their victims !

I have come to the conclusion that the chance of having indicator lights fitted to most cars decreases in direct proportion to the retail price of said vehicle. I see many more high value vehicles without the mobile disco that are indicators than on lower value machines. Perhaps it is because the owners own the road and therefore don't need to signal their intentions other than by use of the horn?

Yesterday morning I startled two roe deer who ran off through a field of rape. Beautiful to watch, and it put me in a good mood for the rest of the journey. My good mood disappeared soon after arriving at work though....

I don't know why they even bother fitting them to Merc's.
I rarely see any of them being used.
