In all honesty I used to run daily and never stretch, and now ride daily and never stretch. I'm pain and injury free normally, so, I don't think that stretching is the issue.

Cheers for the suggestion though.

Cheers guys. The 0.8xxx method has always been way too low for me. I did raise it slightly a few weeks ago, thinking about it. Before I moved the seat backwards. I'll have a 'proper' look in the morning.
How much too low? That figure should pretty much be a given. About 15mm more than that figure and your leg will be locking out which would obviously cause anyone issues.

I can't remember the exact number, but I remember it being very different from the heel method.

Easiest way to set your saddle - as pointed out earlier - is to put the tape measures away, put your heel (without shoes) on the pedal at full crank extension (following the line of the steat tube) - and your leg should be locked out. That will get you in the ballpark. Just make minor adjustments from then according to preference. Different shorts, or a pair of bib tights could effectively raise/lower your riding height by 2-3mm anyway, and I doubt if anyone makes adjustments depending on how many layers they have covering their ar5e.

I've never stretched, never had leg pain, never had any ongoing musclar issues. Stretching is bollocks (IMO). Others may disagree.
+1 with similar anecdotal evidence.

There was a study some little time ago that reached that conclusion. But most sports fads and fashions are based on dodgy observations, so I'd go with what works for you.

I've had few problems, and mostly associated with long distances. With getting on for 50 years of cycling I'm surprised I've had so few injuries.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Im not getting drawn into any debate about stretch vs non stretch , all i know is i used to be very flexible due to my other sporting interests and even though i had to give it up due to time commitments i still like to maintain a certain level and as i have a physical job i do find it benefits my personal situation.
