Shape of the radiator grill would suggest that it is a recent BMW. However the rest of the car disagrees.

I think I was right about it being a Rover, but the earlier P2 looks a better match

Post war BMW Kidney grill looks very much like the photo of me and the car.
I'd be inclined to think BMW too. The grill, and also the round badge.
I also did wonder about some kind of Opel due to the round badge but the grill would lean towards BMW.
Some versions of the side valve Ford's had split grills but it doesn't look right and the badge should be oval if it was a Ford.
Those Rovers have the wipers in the wrong place.

Not particularly. I do like the 40s and 50s before they became too ostentatious.
