My sister had a 106 XSi that I was very envious of (although I then got a Mk1 MR2 so got over it!). A mate had a 405 Mi16 which was nice enough but I beat it up the Santa Pod quarter mile in my CRX VTEC.

Yeah I think the 106 took over from the 205, the 206 was just too 'bloated' and laden with 'safety' features to be light and nimble.

206 was really dull apparently.

Is moved over to Volvo by then!🤣

The predecessor 205 was a great little car. I've driven a couple of non-turbo diesels and they were lovely to drive. I remember driving a friend's one and thinking it was nice enough but a bit rattley and shabby looking then noted it had done 350,000 miles, and as she was a caver it would had quite a hard life

Not a chance!

As a class 1 driver id say easy. The Mi was the most grippy, direct, communicative and neutral chassis I've ever driven.

That strange cantilever rear set up on the CRX could unload unpredictably if the front was pushed in too tight and the grip held. Not the thing for smooth, progressive progress.

Harry’s XJC has just sold for £157,500 at the NEC Classic Car Show
It’s a manual too!

When we had the XKR, someone offered a manual conversion, using the 6-speed Tremec (as used in the Viper)
Even back then (2008 - 2011) it was 'north of' £10,000
Hammond drove a converted XKR, also with a small supercharger pully (to increase its speed) in a film on YouTube........... Oh that whine..

I've spend an hour or so reminscing, watching The New Avengers, & even though it didn't feature in those episodes, I got to thinking about Steeds XJ12C, & found these pages

It looked damned good back then!
