Seen this Skoda pickup a few times recently so it's in regular use but spotted it parked up this morning.

We had a C240 Sport estate about 25 years ago, most comfortable car I’ve ever owned.

My uncle had a C180 saloon in Elegance trim. I drove it often. It was definitely great on a long journey. I don't believe the 1.8 was as sluggish as the likes of Top Gear said either. It needed revved to get the best out of it, but it's midrange to overtake something was fine. The gear ratios were very well chosen for practical driving. Very fuel efficient for a heavy car if driven sensibly.

An estate would be a good buy if you could still find one. Great bike carrying potential that the saloon lacked as the seats didn't fold. (I believe it may have been an optional extra?)

Aye, my 406 was a greet car. Unexciting, but super comfortable, good to drive, economical, reliable, and better looking and more charismatic than the Mundano.

Sadly the 406 seat utterly crippled me. I had one whilst awaiting a company car and could only manage the forty minute commute by having the seat reclined all the way and leaning on a stack of cushions; no doubt a highly suspect idea safety wise.

I did half seriously consider the earlier 504 pickup which was a terrific waggon, if not wholly sensible for my purposes, and my Uncle had had the saloon versio as his middle manager company car which I thought a rather fine thing
