You should have asked them to send you a cover note.
I always thought that 00:00 didn't exist officially as a recognised time, especially within the police. It was either a minute before or a minute after midnight.I was just looking at my car insurance certificates which I have recently renewed. I have never noticed before but the old certificate expired at 23:59 and the new one commenced at 00:00. So, for a whole minute I wasn't insured. What would happen if ANPR picked me up during that minute? Would I lose my car, or if I had an accident that could be proven to have occurred during that minute, where would it leave me other than up the creek without a paddle.
I don't accept the 59th minute thing. If the insurance certificate states an expiry time then that is the time. If they meant the entire 59th minute they would have specified 00:00 to avoid any ambiguity. If they can find a miniscule amount of reason to strike down a claim they will grasp it with both hands and all the small print they can muster and if the police can find a reason to dish out a penalty towards their targets (which we all know they don't have!!) they will likewise grab it.
So if you automatically re-new your car insurance, the insurance company don't cover you for this minute, but still take your cash. So we are all being ripped off. Now tell me, who are the thieving scum?

I work in a hospital where we use the 24 h clock. 2400 and 0000 are interchangeable here. I personally chart 2400 because a tiny part of me still thinks there's no "0" time ...
There was nothing between 1BC/BCE and 1 AD/CEOkay then, what came between 1BC & 1AD?
