Most people I see riding on the smallest cogs are also using the smallest chainring.

Which successfully wrecks sprocket, chain and inner chain ring. Apart from legs, knees, back. Learn to use gears correctly, and raise cadence. Life will be easier and more enjoyable.

You'd be better off changing to the large front ring to go up from middle and 6, I'd tend to use large and 5 as the next gear.
