It's as dark as a Tory's heart here.

Wind is getting up here. SW19.

Light has been almost twilight since around 1400 and has the strangest yellow cast to it, making yellow autumn leaves glow.

Obviously I understand this but winds gusting at 70mph to my mind occur relatively frequently. That’s why I’m surprised by how much interest this particular storm is creating.

One thing that struck me as unusual about this storm was its origin. I don't recall a hurricane forming in the eastern Atlantic before.

Lovely sunny morning here, but have had a brownish sky here in NE Cambs since lunchtime, red sun and all. It's gone really dark now and the wind is getting up. Car is covered in dust.

It's looking clearer to the SW, but the quality of the light is really odd. Reminiscent of either a solar eclipse or a fen blow.

Nobody will be surprised to hear that it's been a bit sh1t here today, as per usual. We had 45 mph winds earlier, but now we have the calm before the storm. Honestly, this year has just been the worst ever for weather with constant low pressures being fed in our direction. Vitamin D has been in short supply. Can't remember when we last had 2 days running when we didn't have substantial rain. As for cycling, you must be kidding.
Anyway, Ophelia looks like keeping with tradition and giving us a bit of a doing. The slates usually start to part company with my roof at about 50 mph winds, so I am not looking forward to this.......
