£310 - that hurts! OTOH just imagine how much worse it would be owning two cars. This one's for the missus, I use the bike for work.

yep cars suck. ours is only a little nissan micra and is due its first mot in july. just cost £400 for tyres (only 2 types fit the alloys contis and pirelli) servicing £100, auxillary belt £62 and probably another £100 for some shopping trolley dents in the front wing. at 45k on the clock the brakes are looking like they will need doing in the summer. was going to buy another new micra but the scrappage allowance has pushed prices up to daftness levels.

Our car had a bill of £ 1100 in November  perfect timing just before Christmas.

New fuel pump, glow plugs, windscreen washer pump, diagnostic scan, some sort of bearings (cannot remember which but know it was bloody expensive) plus labour

I hate cars

It's this kind of thing that puts me off ever learning to drive (age offered driving lessons: 17; current age: 31)

It's funny when colleagues joke at me for riding a bike in and they pay THOUSANDS every year just keeping a car running.

Oh a nice cheap car then... £300 is an axle set of tyres for either of my cars .

The last time I bought a set of tyres for the recumbent that was £70!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (think I'm allowed a Keith Oates for that)

Nah Hackers, it's because I'm both chuffed and gutted at the same time. Gutted because we're still paying for a car, and chuffed because I don't need a second car for myself because of having the bikes.
