Has any one paid more than £11.50 to have an inner tube replaced? The wheel had be removed from the bike and there was nothing fancy about it.

£5 charge for a tube and £6.50 for labour.
Sounds reasonable for some shops I go to.

Evans wanted £17 to replace a tube.
Even though I was booted and suited and in a hurry no way was I paying that.
So I did it myself and they let me use their floor pump and wash my hands for free

I don't think you were overcharged based on what I paid to get my LBS to move a cassette over to a new wheel (I'd just bought off them) however I think everyone above is right- learn to do it yourself and save a mint!

Seems a reasonable price to me.
There can be times when it is quite nice to have a job done for you and save any need to get your hands dirty or risk getting oil on your best suit, or your tie caught up in the rear sprocket.
Although it looks as if the pint you enjoyed while work was in progress hasn't been added to your costs.

Beatlejuice, it says below your avatar that you are an “Active Member”. Seems 2013 is the year when you need to live up to the name. Apologies if any disability prevented you from doing it yourself.
