This morning's idiot (that's two in as many weeks - must be the cold weather bringing them out of the woodwork after months of nothing happening):

Coming down Inverleith Row around 6.15am. Road is empty. Begin to hear a car in the distance behind, so look over my shoulder and see it quite far away. Move over into primary as I'm going to be turning right shortly. Look back again and indicate right as I move over to the centre of the road. Come up to junction and between the noise of the pedal being floored & my senses telling me something wasn't right, I decide to look behind again rather than beginning my turn. Glad I did - the idiot had decided to overtake me on the right.

There was enough room to get a bus by on my left, with nothing parked to block his way, so unsure why he thought passing me on the right was a good idea (other than being an impatient moron).

I have had a couple like that in recent months.

They seem to think that because your on a bike it does not matter that you are indicating and moving to the centre of the road, they just go for it anyway.

Caught 3 of mine on cam.

The same thing happened to me on Fulham Road a couple of months ago. I was stationary on the dashed line down the centre of the road, waiting to ride into a side road on the right which was blocked by some pedestrians crossing it. The pedestrians cleared and I was just about to get both feet on the pedals when I heared something coming up behind very fast. As I glanced back, a very large motorbike shot past four inches from my right bar. Unbelievable.

I had that once, many years ago, when I was doing a paper round (shows how long ago  )

Look over shoulder, right arm out, look over shoulder, see car quite a way back, move to middle, start to make the turn, and idiot comes flying down my right hand side on the wrong side of the road with his hand on the horn

Since then, I always look, look again, and look again as I begin the turn. Only one right turn on my way home, but always keep looking, and just when you think you've looked enough, do it again just to make sure

That's happened to me on a side street near home. Just ridden through some width restrictors, so was in primary, and I'm now bang in the middle of the road signalling right, just 100 yards after the restriction. Then think...why are there headlamps reflecting off the other side of the road, glance back and a 'yoof' floors it past me on the wrong side to the road...very close.

I don't think I've ever had that on Inverleith Row, Goo but 99.999% I'm turning left at the bottom. The most stupid OT I've had whilst tuning right was the other side of town going fast down Whitehouse Road but obviously not fast enough for Mr Impatient; as usual at 22-24 ish mph and had pulled over to the just left of the hatching, when it ends and the road widens I'm usally undertook, which is OK by me; to my surprise however I was overtaken when it would have been easier to undertake (more room no opposing traffic ! ) and I got to find out the value of the 'lifesaver' too.

I had a similar one a week or two back: turning right from the road on to a shared ped/cycle path, I clearly signalled and moved to the centre of the road, looked behind and idiot driver decided to overtake on the right.

He then joined the stationary traffic at a red light about 20 metres up the road.     I've had plenty of drivers overtake me so that they can sit at lights for a few seconds longer, but that was possibly the most stupid...

Had similar, followed by beeping and shouting of "you should wait at the side"

Absolutely 100% sure of their being correct, these idiots. In their warped view, cyclists should turn right like a pedestrian crossing the road - stop at the kerb and wait.

My g/f had someone do that to her recently on one of her early sunday morning "build up confidence rides". It didn't help much with her confidence.

I've read this week of someone ending up in A+E from someone doing the same. I'll not be mentioning that to her!

The drivers who notice you looking over your shoulder and hang back to allow you to turn right get a big grin and thumbs up.

I hate it when they do that, I have had it happen several times. You look back, there is a driver in the distance, you signal right and they accelerate to overtake you, it is dangerous and stupid, there are too many drivers who shouldn't have licences out there...

Me too this evening. Quite a few instances of muppetry this evening tbh...Full moon and all that. After one particularly bad bit of no-one appearing to even see me and a large amount of cursing from me, I noticed my front light batteries had gone. Oops.

Like I said, Full moon

Is that Mrs 2 Flat erics in front of you in these two clips? Tell her to get her arm out straight, she's not doin' flappin' seagull impressions, she's indicatin'!
Ypu must know by now that you are both a serious impediment to the progress of these law-abiding motorists and they are allowed to drive like prats 'cos they pay road tax!!!!
Expect most motorists to drive like eejits (and they will) and you'll be OK.
