Paint Cycling Shoes

Am toying with giving a pair of Fluro cycling shoes a more subtle finish. Has anyone every tried customisingbshoes in this way and how well did it work?

What sort of options are there? Paint with brush? Paint pens?

I’ve got some paint pens which seem to do an ok job, although I’ve only ridden in them a few times in the dry since doing it so I can’t vouch for the longevity of the paint
This was my before and after and believe me I’m no artist

Cracking effort! I have a reasonable sized scrape in the front of one, so might colour the whole section. Just wondering whether it will be patchy in large areas.

I have never painted my shoes but I have glued them!

Which reminds me - the sole on my left shoe is coming away. Time to fish out the Shoe Glu again ...
