One litre of water, with 6 teaspoons of sugar and one teaspoon of salt, and a splash of lemon juice for a little flavour. And a banana or two among my food items.
The Oral Rehydration Therapy website recommend 1l water, 6 tspn sugar, 1/2tspn salt

Personally, I prefer Brawndo because it's got electrolytes.

Yeah, that's aimed at maximum rehydration rate for, for example, people who are seriously dehydrated. I started with that recipe, but I upped the salt to compensate for what I lose by sweating, and since doing that I've had no hint of cramps at all (while I was previously getting them occasionally at the end of the day).

The tabs are an expensive way of getting your salt. Just buy a 5 kg bag of maltodextrin from MyProtein and tip a couple of fingers into your 75cl bottle, add a pinch of salt and a teaspoonful or two of sugar, preferably sucrose. A few drops of fruit cordial or squash and you're sorted. In cold weather just add the maltodextrin.

Only one I've tried that I actually like is the Etixx Endurance mixture.

I only use it if I'm on a 50 mile plus ride which is not that often at the moment so a tub lasts me months

OK, thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to try a few including making my own and find something I can palate.
