Talking about panniers... my new laptop pannier has arrived from JE James. It only cost a tenner and it was worth the gamble as it's a great bag. Holds my 15" Lenovo G505 easily.
I decided I needed to fit a rack and getting a laptop pannier after starting a MSc degree in Software Engineering at the University of the West of England. I had been carrying the laptop plus food plus spare clothes in a rucksak but even though the trip is only 3.5 miles it was too much of a burden. I next decided to revive an old 10" Samsung netbook by buying a Win 7 licence key recovered from a destroyed machine. The machine worked ok but the screen was too small for working with UML diagrams, so the rack and laptop pannier was next best idea.
Just taken it out for a quick test ride and it worked great.
