I've just been making a batch of hummus and remembered a couple of years ago that my son refused to eat my home made hummus. So one day I put some in a supermarket hummus container and told him it was from Lidl, he eat it no problem after that.
On a similar theme, he decided he didn't like tomatoes. Which was disappointing as I LOVE them and use them quite a lot. As luck would have it, we stumbled upon a new to us vegetable/fruit that looked almost identical to tomatoes but tasted completely different. They were called Spanish Love Apples! We got away with this deception for about two years, though he now refuses to eat Spanish love apples also.
Similar experience with French Love Batons (cucumbers).
What parental deceptions have you indulged In? (they don't have to be culinary related)
