The whole situation's madness. Legislation introduced to ease traffic problems caused by selfish motorists is now being used quite blatantly and shamelessly by councils as 'a nice little earner'. Wardens round here ticket lorries offloading beer to the pubs. Crazy.

www.moneysavingexpert.com has a very extensive section about different types of parking fines and whether they are legal or not. I'd recommend having a read through the information on there to find out if the ticket is legal or not - if it is maybe you can appeal, if its not theres advice on how to deal with the situation.

Your advice would be irrelevant then, because unless there is more to the story than the OP told us (i.e. loading restrictions) the vehicle was probably not parked illegally

In this particular instance, you may be right. That doesn't detract from its value as sound general advice, though.
