So what are your suggestions?I suggest that we think more imaginatively than that.

That we divert the money we spend on private car ownership into more, and more flexible, public transport.
All of us are currently paying for your motoring habit. No thank you, you divert yours if you like. Personally I like having private transport. Whether I decide to use my bike/car/motorbike is immaterial really but my choice is to pay for and have the ultimate flexibility that comes from owning my own transport.

Well that's me convinced. No your not, I am
Well that's me convinced.
Do you both actually believe it's the privat motorist that is really causing all the problems & it's nothing to do with the want it next day society, the amount of HGV's on the road, the Buses & Taxi's that clog the streets with their diesel engines which are never switched off for the whole time they are on duty even when stood doing nothing, the planes that put the exhaust gases high up into the atmosphere. I'm clearly biased as I enjoy my cars/bikes but I don't see that the private car is really the biggest issue, but the easiest target, yes I do also understand I am probably in denial, but I am sure there are better ways to resolve some of the issues. What it costs you doesn't get anywhere near the cost of the damage it does. Motorists should stop bleating about being hard done by and exploited, and start stumping up the true costs they cause for all of us.

It was a specific reply to specific statements, TBF the thread is actually about parking, not transportThose are all issues but not the one we are talking about, which is transport.
Only if they are not your thing, I currently have 4 cars, all parked on my own property that I have modified to accommodate them, I can only drive one at once, but I get enjoyment of of driving them. The world of car ownership is completely mad.
I take it you live in an urban area, I live 18 miles from work, it is impractical to cycle, I am not fit enough & even if I were I doubt I still would, as to public transport, it would be a bus, a train & then either a tram or a 2 mile walk, but the real issue I would have to leave home at 10pm to get to work for 7amImagine how much better bus services could be, if they were not being caught up in queues of cars.
Yes, that is why things have to change.
So what is the solution, build hi-rise flats & everybody move into an urban area, that didn't work in the 60's as i remember itYes, that is why things have to change.
Because you put your head above the parapet as the doom slayer of all cars. Why are you demanding that I answer all the questions?
