Sheffield Univrersity Arts Tower still has it's 18-floor paternoster, which is said to be the world's largest.

It's mentioned in video linked in the OP, something to do with rosary beads and "our father"...

We used to have one at work ( heathrow airport ) I remember my colleague tried to get in carrying a set of step ladders! They were crushed !

I was at Leicester Poly too and remember the Paternoster in the Fletcher building I think it was. Funnily enough we had a reunion back in Leicester a couple of weekends ago. Stayed at the Grand and hit a few of the old haunts - The Bowling Green and what was back then the Crown and Thistle. All very different now though.

The 'Swan and Rushes' is the only decent pub round that way now.

It did in 1991 but it had been roped-off by then.

That's mine too - the maths tower. We got 8 of us in once (I think it was 8, it's 35 years ago)

And me too. Mid 70's. Thought they were in the Chem block ?

Maybe they had more than one? I was engineering, so had a few maths lectures in the tower but don't recall having to go into the Chem block.
