Presumably they want your bank account details including logon info?

Have been with paypal for donkeys and never had a security check. Have had plenty for bank accounts I never knew I had.

I've had similar because my card has expired they have limited my account until I update my details. Well, I've not used PayPal for years and don't intend to so I decided to close the account. The thing is, they won't let me close the account unless all the details are verified, including a bank card. I'm not giving them card details just so they can close an account I don't use, so they can go whistle, and I've redirected their e-mails to spam. Sod em.

Have you been hacked?
As i said i logged directly onto paypal via bookmarks rather than any link and changed my password and had to go through an account verification procedure, also got a password changed confirmation email etc .
its as velvet curtain says with regards to the verification procedure.

I think I got a similar email cyber but just deleted it I can't check to see whether it was genuine or not... wouldn't respond to an email anyway no matter what it said.

Yes, but having had a credit card hacked either on a sony or a waterstones site, the card company used similar procedure next time we (Mrs A) tried to use the card. The card company gave very little away about what happened except they asked me to confirm an Amazon transaction that they were declining to accept. I've no idea how the hackers got the card details but they managed it. On the waterstones site the transaction went awry so I suspect it was their site although they said it wasn't. We lost nothing, however.

Have also had a problem on this site and yahoo simultaneously when I was unable to log on to either back in December this year. On both sites the password ceased to work and no, they weren't the same password. I have now made it so I am never logged on to web sites without typing the password myself.

Earlier this week I got an email from Yahoo asking me to change my password because an email had been sent from a contact whose Yahoo account had been penetrated by someone in Indonesia! Fortunately we'd not had any strangers logging in to our account.

Do you use it a lot? I thought PayPal had forced all users to verify their address as part of new EU money laundering rules. At a guess their automated software failed to find you on a recent Electoral role at your current address or the address on your PayPal account. Have you moved recently? The normal verification is though two small deposits in to your back account with a 4 digit code that you then enter on the PayPal site.

To be honest the last thing I would do is open another account, they will link it ban him. They will link it through IP address, Security cookies on the PC/Laptop plus name and address. You might be able to have two accounts and them not to bother you even though it is against their T&C's but if one is suspended they will link them and then ban.
