The clearance will depend more on the bike than the tyre , some bikes wont take a 25mm tyre with mudguards .

Ribble winter bike, currently 25mm tyres and SKS guards, in need of replacment. Not a lot of clearance. The PDWs have been recommended in the past for bikes with minimal or no clearance for 'normal' guards.

Somebody with the Ribble should be able to tell you better but I know on giants a 25mm tyre struggles to fit under the mudguard , would think the Ribble winter would have bigger clearances though .

Mudguards fit my Ribble. SKS guards are OK, they fit with 25mm tyres. I am asking specifically whether anyone on here is using 'PDW Full Metal Fenders', 35mm width, with 25mm tyres. They are quite expensive so I would welcome other's experience with these guards before I buy.

The Full Metals are designed to be used with a 23mm tyre according to PDW but there's plenty of room for a 25 in there. Even a 28 fits, just.

Thanks for the link - that's reassuring - still not finally decided - they seem to be out of stock everywhere anyway. Expensive, but if they last longer than plastic it's probably worth it in the long term.

I use SKS longboards , hard to fit but great once you get them on , plastic but someone said if they were to break and go into the wheel then you wont be catapulted off the bike.

They should be fine. I have fitted them to a bike with much less clearance.

The bike I fitted them to have 23mm tyres but there's room to go to 25.
